The Vice President of Events & Engagement serves as the Chief Risk Officer of the MUS, ensuring social events are safe, sustainable, and effectively coordinated with key stakeholders. They provide strategic oversight for the Events portfolio, maintain relationships with venues and suppliers, and serve as a senior resource for event planning and execution.

Responsibilities include:

  • Protect the viability of high-risk events through effective risk management, participant communications, and stakeholder relations.

  • Oversee and provide strategic direction to all event committees within the Events portfolio.

  • Serve as the primary liaison with McGill Security, Risk Management, Fire Prevention, the Faculty, the SPVM, and the RACJ for on-campus events.

  • Collaborate with student leaders across faculties on McGill-wide initiatives, including Integrated Orientation Week and other campus-wide events.

  • Manage drink procurement and maintain relationships with event suppliers.

  • Work closely with the Desautels Awareness Committee to promote best practices and ensure access to relevant resources and support at events.

  • Ensure the financial viability, long-term sustainability, and overall quality of all social events.

  • Act as a senior event-planning resource and advisor to MUS portfolios and affiliated clubs.
